No Smoking & Vaping Policy
HAUS OF ÄSTHETIK
No Smoking & Vaping Policy
Effective Date: 1st April 2025
Review Date: 1st April 2026
Version: 1.0
Approved By: Managing Director
1. Purpose
This policy sets out the prohibition of smoking and vaping at Haus Of Ästhetik, to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of all staff, patients, and visitors. It supports compliance with the Health Act 2006, the Smoke-Free (Premises and Enforcement) Regulations 2006, and Care Quality Commission (CQC) Regulation 15 – Premises and Equipment.
2. Policy Statement
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in all areas of the Haus Of Ästhetik premises, including:
-
All internal clinic rooms, offices, and toilets.
-
Entranceways, staircases, and communal hallways.
-
Reception and waiting areas.
-
Windows, balconies, fire exits, or anywhere visible or accessible from the clinic interior.
This applies to:
-
Cigarettes, cigars, pipes
-
Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes)
-
Vape pens or any nicotine inhalation devices
-
Any similar product emitting vapour or smoke
3. Scope
This policy applies to:
-
All clinical and administrative staff
-
Patients and clients attending the clinic
-
Visitors, delivery personnel, subcontractors
-
Any temporary or agency workers operating within the premises
4. Rationale
-
Exposure to second-hand smoke or vapour is harmful to health and affects the sterile, clinical nature of our treatment spaces.
-
Nicotine vapours may contain toxins and allergens which compromise a safe clinical environment.
-
Aesthetic treatment products (e.g. polynucleotides, chemical peels) must not be contaminated by smoke particles.
-
Vaping/smoking contravenes CQC expectations for a safe, clean, and respectful clinical setting.
5. Communal External Areas
We acknowledge that Portland Square, as a mixed commercial premises, contains a communal outdoor seating area used by surrounding businesses. On occasion, smoke or vapour may drift into the clinic through open windows or the reception entrance.
Mitigation measures include:
-
Patient scheduling to minimise window use during peak external usage
-
Internal air purification systems in treatment rooms
-
Window management protocols during high-traffic periods
However, external communal behaviour cannot be regulated by the clinic, and full prevention of smoke ingress is not guaranteed.
6. Enforcement
-
Signage is displayed at entry points and within the premises
-
Any staff, client, or visitor found smoking or vaping within the premises will be asked to stop immediately
-
Repeated non-compliance may result in:
-
Termination of appointment or treatment
-
Disciplinary action (for staff)
-
Refusal of service under patient conduct clauses
-
7. Review and Monitoring
-
This policy will be reviewed annually or following changes in legislation
-
Reports of smoke or vapour exposure will be logged as part of the clinic’s incident reporting
-
Air quality and ventilation strategies will be reviewed in line with this policy
