1. Hazard Identification

Hazard: Risk of staff working alone in the clinic, particularly outside normal business hours or when handling challenging patients.

Location of Hazard:

Reception area.

Treatment rooms.

Clinic staff (including aestheticians, injectors, and receptionists).

3. Risk Control Measures

A. Staff Safety Procedures

Lone Worker Policy:

Staff must notify a designated person when they are working alone, including expected start and end times.

Check-in calls must be made at set intervals, particularly in evening shifts.

Emergency Call Procedures:

Staff have access to an emergency panic button or alert system in case of distress.

A designated emergency contact number is displayed in all staff areas.

Security & Door Access:

Clinic doors remain locked outside of appointment hours.

Only pre-booked clients are allowed entry, reducing the risk of unexpected visitors.

CCTV cameras are installed at entrance points and the reception area.


B. Patient Interaction & De-escalation

Handling Difficult Patients:

Staff trained in verbal de-escalation techniques.

Patients with a history of aggression may be refused future treatment.

Avoiding Unnecessary Risks:

Staff should never be alone with a patient in a locked room without an open line of communication.

High-risk patients (those with medical conditions or past complications) should only be treated when at least two staff members are present.


C. Cash & Asset Security

Financial Handling Controls:

Minimal cash kept on-site; transactions encouraged via card or bank transfer.

High-value products (Botox, dermal fillers) stored securely when not in use.
