1. Purpose
HAUS OF ÄSTHETIK is committed to maintaining high competency, safety, and professional development standards for all clinical staff. This policy ensures that all practitioners meet the regulatory and clinical competency requirements, enabling the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based aesthetic treatments.
This policy aligns with:

This policy ensures that all staff undergo ongoing training, competency assessments, and audits to uphold best practices in patient safety and care delivery.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
• All clinical staff performing aesthetic treatments.
• Agency, temporary, and subcontracted personnel providing clinical services.
• Senior Leadership Team responsible for training, competency, and governance.
• All new and existing employees who require ongoing skills assessment and development.
3. Legal & Regulatory Requirements
3.1 CQC Regulation 18 – Staffing & Training
Under this regulation, HAUS OF ÄSTHETIK must:
• Ensure that all staff receive training appropriate to their role.
• Provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Regularly assess competency to ensure high standards of patient care.
3.2 Save Face & BACN Clinical Training Standards
• Only medically qualified professionals can be appointed as injectors in compliance with CQC and Save Face guidelines.
• All injectors must complete verified training courses before delivering treatments.
• Continuous upskilling is required to maintain competency in aesthetic medicine.
4. Training & Competency Assessment Framework
4.1 Initial Training & Qualifications
• All new clinical staff must provide proof of their qualifications, training, and professional registration (GMC, NMC, GPhC, or equivalent).
• Qualifications will be assessed upon appointment or completion of a new course.
• All staff must complete a structured induction programme covering infection control, emergency protocols, and aesthetic treatment guidelines.
4.2 Annual Competency Reviews
• All injectors must undergo an annual review to assess competency, skills, and adherence to best practices.
• Injectors must provide evidence of valid indemnity insurance during their annual review.
• Competency assessments will include practical evaluations, knowledge tests, and patient outcome reviews.
• Competence in prescribing will be assessed to ensure that practitioners only prescribe within their area of expertise, training, or experience, whether in private healthcare, the aesthetic industry, or the NHS, in accordance with CQC, Save Face, and regulatory body standards (GMC, NMC, GPhC).
• All injectors must undergo an annual review to assess competency, skills, and adherence to best practices.
• Injectors must provide evidence of valid indemnity insurance during their annual review.
• Competency assessments will include practical evaluations, knowledge tests, and patient outcome reviews.
4.3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirements
• All staff must complete at least 12 hours of CPD annually in aesthetic medicine.
• CPD must include hands-on training, online learning, or attendance at recognised conferences.
• Staff are responsible for maintaining their CPD records and revalidation documentation.
4.4 Supervision & Mentorship
• Newly appointed injectors must undergo supervised practice for a set probationary period.
• A mentorship programme will be available for junior or newly qualified aesthetic practitioners.
• Peer reviews will be conducted to encourage shared learning and clinical improvement.
• A Body of Competence will be available for injectors to seek guidance if they encounter a concern, require support, or need a second opinion from a peer.
• Injectors are encouraged to consult the Body of Competence for complex cases or areas where further insight is beneficial.
• Newly appointed injectors must undergo supervised practice for a set probationary period.
• A mentorship programme will be available for junior or newly qualified aesthetic practitioners.
• Peer reviews will be conducted to encourage shared learning and clinical improvement.
5. Performance Monitoring & Audits
5.1 Clinical Audits
• Quarterly audits will review practitioner performance, patient outcomes, and protocol adherence.
• Audit results will be used to identify individual or organisational improvement areas.
• Trends in complications or adverse effects will be analysed and addressed through targeted training.
5.2 Incident Reporting & Learning from Adverse Events
• All clinical incidents must be reported immediately via the internal reporting system.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) will be conducted for significant incidents to identify training gaps.
• Findings from incident investigations will inform future training and policy updates.
6. Governance & Compliance Monitoring
• A Training & Competency Lead will oversee compliance with training requirements.
• Training records will be maintained and reviewed as part of the clinic’s governance processes.
• Failure to meet training requirements may result in suspension of clinical privileges until competency is demonstrated.
• Regulatory updates will be monitored to ensure training programmes remain aligned with industry standards.
7. Review & Continuous Improvement
• This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to changes in regulatory requirements.
• Compliance with CQC, Save Face, BACN, and CPD standards will be continuously monitored.
• Feedback from staff and clinical audits will drive ongoing improvements in training and competency frameworks.
