What Are Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?

Cosmetic line-softening treatments are non-surgical procedures that can help reduce the appearance of upper face lines caused by repeated facial movements, resulting in a refreshed and natural look. These services are elective and focus on aesthetic concerns only.

During consultation, a qualified prescriber will assess individual goals and discuss suitable options. The approach is tailored to each person, with the aim of achieving subtle, natural results that support personal appearance preferences.

How Are Cosmetic Line-Softening Treatments Discussed?

During consultation, some clients choose to explore non-surgical options that may help with the appearance of lines linked to repeated facial expressions. These treatments are cosmetic in nature and tailored to individual goals, with outcomes varying from person to person.

Clients often raise the following areas of concern during their consultation:

  • Between the Brows (Glabella): Vertical lines that appear when frowning are a common cosmetic concern.
  • Forehead: Horizontal lines visible when raising the eyebrows are another area people frequently enquire about.
  • Around the Eyes (Crow’s Feet): Fine lines at the corners of the eyes when smiling or squinting are also often discussed.

Important Note:

Suitability, options, and product choice are determined only after a consultation with a qualified prescriber. These services are elective and cosmetic, and results vary depending on individual factors.

Additional Cosmetic Areas

In addition to the three most common upper-face areas, some clients choose to discuss an extra area of concern during the same session. Examples may include:

  • Fine lines across the nose (“bunny lines”)
  • Texture changes to the chin area (“dimpled chin”)
  • Smile balance where the upper lip rises more prominently (“gummy smile”)

Important Note:

Certain requests, such as jawline slimming, neck band work, or injections for medical conditions, are not included within this category. All services are provided strictly for cosmetic purposes, and suitability is determined only after consultation with a qualified prescriber.

Frequently Asked Questions About Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Do I need an initial consultation before anti-wrinkle treatment?

• Yes, a face-to-face consultation with a medically qualified practitioner is required before your first treatment.

• This allows us to assess your suitability, medical history, and treatment goals.

• A prescription for botulinum toxin is issued only after this consultation.

What products do you use for anti-wrinkle treatment?

• We use premium UK-licensed brands such as BOTOX® (Allergan), Nuceiva®, Bocuoture and Xeomin and other approved botulinum toxin type A products.

• The choice of brand is based on your clinical needs and personal preferences.

What is botulinum toxin and how does it work?

• Botulinum toxin type A is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles.

• It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, preventing muscle contraction and softening expression lines.

How long does botulinum toxin stay in my body?

• It is metabolised and excreted naturally from the body over time.

Is it safe?

Where does the toxin go when it wears off?

• It is naturally broken down by the body and excreted through your metabolic system.

Can I fly after treatment?

• Yes, but avoid pressure changes (like long-haul flights) within the first 24 hours if possible.

Can I go in the sun or use sunbeds after?

• Avoid direct sun exposure, heat, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 48 hours.

• These may affect the distribution and outcome of the treatment.

Can I exercise after treatment?

• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours post-treatment.

• Light walking is fine.

Can I drink alcohol after the treatment?

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after to minimise bruising and swelling.

Can I combine it with other treatments like facials or peels?

• Yes, but spacing is key. Microneedling or chemical peels should be scheduled before or at least 1–2 weeks after toxin treatment.

Can I have BOTOX® before or after semi-permanent makeup?

• Generally, semi-permanent makeup should be done first.

• If not possible, allow at least 2 weeks between procedures.

When can I have a follow-up?

• We recommend a follow-up appointment 2–3 weeks after your first treatment.

• Adjustments (if needed) can be made at this time.

Do I need follow-ups every time?

• Not necessarily. Once you’re on a regular treatment plan, follow-ups are optional unless concerns arise.

Can men have anti-wrinkle treatment?

• Absolutely. Many of our patients are male.

• Doses may be slightly higher due to stronger facial muscles.

• Results may take a little longer to achieve due to muscle groups

• We however don't discriminate and change different rates for males and females.

Will people know I’ve had it done?

• Not if it’s done well.

• Expect compliments on looking ‘refreshed’ rather than ‘treated.’

How often should I have treatments?

• Most patients return every 3–4 months to maintain results.

• We offer subscription plans with 3 or 4 sessions a year for convenience.
